Description
The waterfalls in the White Mountains (Lefka Ori) are not a single set of named falls, but rather a network of seasonal mountain cascades that appear across its deep gorges and ravines. Most of them form from snowmelt and winter rainfall, so they are strongest in late winter and spring, then shrink or disappear in summer.
They are typically found inside remote gorges like Samaria, Agia Irini, and smaller side ravines, where steep limestone cliffs channel water into short-lived streams and drops. Unlike famous standalone waterfalls, these are often unnamed and scattered, blending into the rugged alpine landscape. Their character is more about wild, temporary flow and dramatic terrain rather than permanent, tourist-marked waterfalls.
