Vossakos Monastery (also spelled Vosakou) is a historic, fortress-like Greek Orthodox complex dedicated to the Holy Cross (Timios Stavros). Located roughly 50 km east of Rethymno on a high plateau of the Tallaia Mountains, it is known for its secluded, tranquil atmosphere and its role in the Cretan resistance against Ottoman rule.
