Description
The Venetian Loggia in Heraklion is one of the finest examples of Venetian architecture in Crete. Built in the 17th century, it served as a gathering place for Venetian nobles to discuss political, economic, and administrative matters. The elegant two-story structure features a ground-floor arcade with Doric columns and an upper floor with Ionic columns, showcasing a harmonious blend of classical design. Located near the Lion Fountain and Saint Mark’s Basilica, the Loggia stands proudly in the heart of the old town. Today, it houses the town hall and remains a striking symbol of Heraklion’s rich historical legacy.
