Description
Therisos Gorge is a short but very scenic gorge located near Chania in western Crete, running along the road that connects the city with the mountain village of Theriso. It is known for its dramatic limestone cliffs, narrow winding road, and lush vegetation, especially in spring when the area turns green and full of wildflowers. Unlike more remote hiking gorges, it is easily accessible by car, so many visitors experience it as a relaxing drive rather than a full trek. The gorge also leads to the historic village of Theriso, which played an important role in Cretan history and offers traditional tavernas and a peaceful mountain atmosphere.
