The Thripti Mountains are a striking mountain range in eastern Crete, located in the Lasithi region above the southern coast near Ierapetra. Towering up to 1,476 meters at their highest point, Afentis Stavromenos, the range is known for its rugged limestone peaks, deep gorges like Ha Gorge, and lush pine forests. It’s a paradise for hikers, birdwatchers, and nature lovers—offering spectacular sea views, ancient trails, and rare Cretan wildlife. The range is part of the protected Natura 2000 network due to its ecological richness and endemic plant species.
