Description
The Pantelis River, also known locally as the Siria River, is a significant watercourse in the Lassithi region of eastern Crete, particularly near the town of Sitia. Fed by several tributaries, it flows through fertile valleys and traditional villages such as Kato Episkopi, supporting agriculture and local ecosystems. Historically, the river powered numerous watermills, reflecting its role in the rural economy. As it winds toward Sitia Bay, the Pantelis/Siria River offers a blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage, making it an important but lesser-known feature of the Cretan landscape.
