Description
The Simas Bridge in Prases, Rethymno, is the tallest built bridge in Crete and a construction marvel for its time. It stands on the south side of Vrysina, along the road connecting Rethymno with the Amari dam area, spanning the two rocky sides of the wild Kaminolakos gorge.
The Arch of Simas was completed after 1912, although it went up for auction in 1910, after many years of planning the road connection between Rethymno and Amari. The Arch of Simas features three equal arches, supported by very high piers.
