Description
In the small seaside settlement of Galatas, just a few kilometers west of Chania, stands a charming little chapel dedicated to Saint Dionysius of Olympus. The church is easily recognizable by its blue dome and its colorful stained‑glass door, making it a distinctive landmark along the harbor. Saint Dionysius was a 16th‑century monk from the region of Mount Olympus, known for his deep devotion and preaching. The Orthodox Church commemorates him every year on January 23, when the small chapel in Galatas is decorated and celebrated by the local community.
