Plakias

Plakias is a traditional fishing village located 40 km south of Rethymno Town. It is a popular tourist resort, welcoming numerous visitors who are charmed by this picturesque settlement. Plakias Beach, with its amazing crystalline waters, stretches for more than 1 kilometer. In the surrounding area, you can also find other superb beaches with white sand and crystal clear waters, such as the coves of Souda, Ammoudi and Damnoni.

Plakias is considered one of the most beautiful villages of Crete, offering numerous accommodation options of all types, as well as plenty of restaurants, fish taverns, sunny cafes and lively bars and clubs. Boats depart regularly from the port of Plakias for the famous Preveli Monastery, the imposing Frangokastello Fortress and the coastal village of Agia Galini.
