Description
The Old Venetian Harbour of Rethymnon is one of the most charming and historic sites in Crete. Built during the Venetian period (1204-1669), the port retains intact the character and unique atmosphere of the era, making it one of the most romantic walks in Crete.
As one walks along the harbour, one encounters a harmonious combination of Venetian, Ottoman and neoclassical architecture, which bears witness to the successive phases of Rethymno's history. The old warehouses, the picturesque buildings with wooden balconies and coloured windows create an atmosphere of a different era.
