Description

The Monastery of Preveli is a historic Greek Orthodox monastery in southern Crete, about 37 km from Rethymno. It has two parts: the Lower Monastery (now in ruins) and the Rear Monastery, which is open to visitors. It played an important role during Ottoman rule and World War II, and today it includes a small museum and offers beautiful views near Preveli Beach and the Kourtaliotiko Gorge.
