Description
The Lissos Gorge is a scenic coastal gorge in southwestern Crete, leading down toward the ancient site of Lissos. The trail typically starts near Sougia and follows a peaceful path through rocky terrain, low vegetation, and remnants of old stone walls.
It is generally considered easy to moderate, with no technical sections, making it accessible for most hikers with basic fitness. At the end of the gorge, you reach the secluded archaeological site and a small beach, which adds a rewarding finish to the walk. Compared to more dramatic inland gorges like Samaria Gorge, Lissos is shorter and more relaxed, with a strong mix of nature and history.
