Description
Linoperamata is a small coastal area and port located about 7–8 km west of Heraklion, in the Malevizi region of northern Crete, Greece. Situated at the western end of the long Ammoudara beach, this area is known for its mix of industrial and natural elements.
The port of Linoperamata is a small harbor used mainly by fishing and local vessels, and it's adjacent to an area with energy facilities (such as the old DEH power plant and a cement factory). While the port itself isn't touristy, the surrounding coastline offers golden sand, clean waters, and peaceful swimming spots.
Nearby, the Almyros River flows into the sea, creating a natural boundary and an interesting ecosystem. Above the area, the Mycenaean acropolis of Kastrokefala offers panoramic views and historical interest.
Despite the industrial backdrop, the beach in Linoperamata is partially organized, offering umbrellas, loungers, and showers, mainly on the eastern side. Other areas are quieter and more natural.
