Description
Krasi is a traditional village nestled in the Lasithi plateau of Crete. Its origins trace back to the Venetian era, although its precise founding date remains unclear. The village's architecture is characteristic of traditional Cretan settlements, with stone houses featuring simple, functional designs reflecting the region's rural lifestyle. Many buildings showcase traditional Cretan architectural features such as wooden balconies and stone roofs. The village's central square, historically a gathering place for the community, maintains its role as a focal point of village life. A significant feature is the nearby Plane Tree of Krasi, a centuries-old tree of immense cultural and historical importance, considered a symbol of the village itself. Krasi, though evolving, largely retains its historic character as a Cretan village.
