Description

The Historical Archive of Chania, officially known as the Historical Archive of Crete, is one of the most important archival institutions in Greece. Located in Chania, it preserves and showcases the rich historical heritage of Crete from the Venetian period to modern times.

The archive houses an extensive collection of documents, manuscripts, photographs, maps, and books that document the island’s political, social, and cultural history. In addition to its archival role, the institution includes exhibition spaces where visitors can explore displays on significant events such as the Battle of Crete, the Cretan State, and everyday life in past centuries.

It serves both as a research center and a cultural destination, making it ideal for visitors interested in deeper historical knowledge and academic exploration.
