Description

The Flora and Fauna Preservation Park is a 30-hectare protected nature area established by the Technical University of Crete near Akrotiri, Chania. Its purpose is to conserve native Cretan plants (including many endemic and threatened species) and the associated wildlife in as natural a setting as possible. The park was conceived in 1994 and officially opened in 2004, offering educational, research, and recreational experiences that highlight Crete’s rich biodiversity. It is managed by university staff and includes thematic botanical collections and informally maintained natural habitats showing native ecosystems.
