Description
The Eligia Gorge is a relatively small and quiet gorge in the wider Chania region of Crete, known mostly to locals and experienced hikers. It lies in a more remote mountain area, surrounded by rugged terrain and typical Cretan vegetation.
The hike is generally considered moderate, with uneven ground, natural obstacles, and sections that may require careful footing. It is not a heavily developed or marked trail, so navigation skills and preparation are helpful. Compared to more popular routes like Imbros Gorge, Eligia offers a much quieter and more wilderness-like experience, with few visitors and a strong sense of isolation.
