Boutari Winery

Our story begins in Naoussa, Macedonia, in 1879, when Ioannis Boutaris founded the winery that still carries his name. In 1906, the construction of the first privately owned winery and retail cellar in the city became a reality. New horizons opened in 1935, as the company began exporting its wines to Austria, Hungary, and Egypt. In 1989, Boutari Winery once again led the way by investing in wine tourism, becoming the first to open the doors of its Santorini winery to the public. In 2004, the development of our privately owned vineyard in Crete marked the creation of one of the most modern wineries in Europe. In 2022, Boutari Wineries turned a new page by joining the Sterner Stenhus Greece group. Honoring the legacy of a name synonymous with Greek wine, and committed to preserving and elevating its esteemed position, a new era begins for Boutari—with a promise to continue creating wine as a true form of high art.
