Description

Close to the church of Agia Fotini starts the longest beach of the city of Ierapetra. The East Beach of Agios Andreas, named after the church of Saint Andrew built by the exit of the river Kotovianou, stretches for 4km to the east. In the beginning, you’ll find the well organized municipal beach and many big hotels. From there, as you head eastwards, the beach becomes more secluded. However, it is not appropriate for nudists, because the main road linking the city with Makrigialos and Sitia runs along the shore. The beach close to the city centre is sandy, but as you head to the east sand turns to small grayish pebbles and rocks in places till the area Livadia.  The east end of the long Ierapetra beach is called Livadia, and beyond this, is called Peristeras. This is a secluded area with high cliffs surrounding it. The beach is sandy and has several smooth rocks in places. You can reach the easternmost part of Agios Andreas by walking from the road. However, there is a second sandy beach in Peristeras, just behind the rocky end of the long beach, that can be accessed by the road. This is very well protected by prying eyes, but there are many rocks.
