Description
The Holy Monastery of Timiou Prodromou Attalis (or Atali Monastery) is an active male Orthodox monastery located near Bali, Rethymnon, Crete, dedicated to Saint John the Baptist. Primarily established or rebuilt during the Venetian period (17th century), the monastery features a central church (katholikon) built in 1635, noted for its architecture. It served as a spiritual center and a refuge during conflicts, was restored in the 1980s, and is reachable via the old national road from Rethymnon to Heraklion.
