Description

Katholiko Monastery is one of the oldest monastic sites in Crete, founded around the 11th century and located about 20 km northeast of Chania on the Akrotiri peninsula near the Avlaki Gorge. It can only be reached on foot via a trail that starts near the Gouverneto Monastery, and today remains largely a historic and scenic ruin integrated into the cliff landscape, known for its dramatic setting and ancient architecture rather than active religious functions.
