Alexakis Winery

The Alexakis Winery is a family affair. It was founded in the 1970s by Stelios Alexakis, Chemical Engineer and Oenologist, and Sofia Alexakis, and is continued by their children, Lazaros Alexakis, an oenologist from the University of Florence, and Apostolos Alexakis, an oenologist from the University of Fresno, California.

The Alexakis Winery is the largest private winery in Crete. For decades, it has collaborated with all the island’s winegrowers, maintaining long-standing relationships and being fully aware of the peculiarities of the Cretan vineyard.

This knowledge enables us to select vineyards with distinctive character for each variety we vinify. With quality raw material in mind, our work begins in the field.
