About Irene Tsirakou

Born in Heraklion, Crete, with Asia Minor roots, Irene Tsirakou combines tradition with creativity. Inspired by her mother, one of Crete’s finest weavers, she learned the art of weaving from a young age.

Together with her husband, Nikolaos Methymakis, she restored a 1929 loom and continues to revive and build traditional and portable looms. Through her workshops, Irene shares her passion, ensuring the Cretan weaving tradition lives on.
