Agioi Theodori Island

Description
Agioi Theodoroi Island (also known as Thodorou) is a small, protected islet off the coast of the Akrotiri Peninsula that functions as an important wildlife refuge. Its rocky, largely inaccessible terrain supports dense Mediterranean scrub vegetation, including endemic and hardy plant species adapted to dry, windy conditions. The island is especially significant for birdlife, serving as a nesting and resting site for seabirds that benefit from its isolation and lack of human disturbance. Its surrounding waters are clear and relatively undisturbed, providing habitat for fish and other marine organisms along rocky underwater slopes. Because access is restricted, the island remains one of the more pristine natural ecosystems in the Chania coastline.
