Description
Aradena Gorge is a striking limestone gorge in southwestern Crete, known for its steep cliffs, wild landscape, and challenging hiking route that runs from the abandoned village of Aradena down toward the Libyan Sea. Along the way, hikers experience rugged terrain, dramatic rock formations, and very little shade, making it a demanding but rewarding trek. Near the entrance stands the impressive Aradena Bridge, a tall steel structure that spans the gorge and is famous for offering panoramic views and even bungee jumping. The trail eventually leads toward the coast near Marmara Beach, where visitors can finish the hike with a swim in clear blue waters.
