The General Hospital of Chania “O Agios Georgios” is the main public hospital serving the Chania region and one of the largest healthcare facilities in Crete. It has been operating in its modern premises in Mournies since 2000 and offers a wide range of primary, secondary, and tertiary medical services.

The hospital is fully equipped with numerous departments, including emergency care, surgery, intensive care, laboratories, and specialized units such as cardiology, oncology, and nephrology. It operates 24/7 and provides both inpatient and outpatient services to locals and visitors.

With a capacity of around 450–580 beds, it plays a central role in the public healthcare system of western Crete, ensuring accessible medical care regardless of patients’ economic or social status.
