Description
Argiroupolis is a traditional, picturesque village built on the site of ancient Lappa at an altitude of 260 meters. The village lies 21 kilometers southwest of Rethymno Town, and most of its inhabitants are engaged in farming and cattle breeding.
Argiroupolis is surrounded by rich and verdant vegetation with huge trees, wild plants, and exotic waterfalls. Around the area, you can see a few churches, as well as various monuments dating back to the Roman, Byzantine, and Venetian eras. The village is beloved by visitors for its wonderful view and the charming Argiroupolis Springs lying a few meters nearby.
The village is not very developed, but it offers tourist amenities. The excellent taverns situated amidst the lush surroundings are definitely worth a visit. You can enjoy the idyllic scenery of Argiroupolis while tasting delicious traditional specialties and Cretan wine.
