Description

The Asomaton Monastery (also known as Moni Asomaton) is a historic site located in the fertile Amari Valley of Crete. Founded in the 13th century and dedicated to the Angels (Archangels Michael and Gabriel), it served for many years as a fortress and spiritual center before being converted into the Asomati Agricultural School in 1927. Today, it is largely considered an abandoned or semi-restored landmark, though it remains a popular stop for those exploring the Rethymno prefecture.
